Ellen Simon Irving, LCSW-R
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (SUNY at Buffalo 1989) I worked in hospital and substance abuse settings, as well as private practice. While at University of Rochester’s Strong Memorial Hospital, I engaged in post graduate studies in their renowned Family and Marriage Clinic. I’ve been entirely in solo practice since 2000. My past experience as a yoga teacher and my studies of Eastern philosophy and psychology influence my coaching and psychotherapy practice. My approach is informed by the importance of the spirit-body-mind as an interconnected whole. This approach has been enriched by journeys to India (Mt. Arunachala) where I experienced a deepening of Awareness and Peru where I was immersed in the art of sacred shamanic practices. Sensitivity to each individual’s spiritual orientation (including the absence of one) allows me to assist clients to align with their own true nature to achieve the highest possibilities for healing.
While at my first workshop with bestselling author Katherine Woodward Thomas, expert relationship coach and family therapist, I experienced my own transformation which also sparked a rekindled passion for my career – for spreading the message that we were born to love and be loved and to share her methods that helped me and my clients transform. I continue to study with her, as well as other teachers.
I am grateful to be called to this work, because I cannot imagine anything more rewarding than seeing my clients’ new-found relief, discovery, and hopefulness for a brighter future.
